Ireland’s property and mortgage market recap for March 2024. 🇮🇪
Hello everyone, it’s officially April now, and that means John Coleman of JC Mortgage has your recap of Ireland’s mortgage and property market for March.
With the time change and brighter evenings, expect more houses coming onto the marketplace. So, hopefully, if you’re looking for a second house and haven’t seen anything as yet that you like, that that may now change.
Okay, so, what happened in the month of March with regard to the mortgage market?
Well, one of the banks reduced their interest rates, dropping their four-year fixed rate by 0.3% and introducing a new three-year green rate. That without the European Central Bank having done anything!
There was another meeting, and the noise is coming out of Europe again is that rates will be coming down, possibly as early as June. We will keep you updated as we know more.
And for people   sending money back home to help family, one of the banks is now taking what I consider to be a very poor view of this, almost like a loan or as a commitment.  So be aware of that and there may be different ways to get home back to family – please contact me to go over this!
Lastly, if you’re looking for the Help to Buy scheme even if it’s not until later in the year, get it sorted now and put an application in. They’re almost taking two to three months there’s such a backlog.
So, have a great April, I hope to be talking to you very soon, and I’ll see if you’ve any particular questions!
